Career
From 1915 professor at various high educational establishments. From 1920 professor, Rostov University, then Leningrad Politech Institute, Leningrad Mining Institute et cetera From 1926 associate, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Did research on classificatory, theoretical and experimental petrography, mineralogy, geochemistry. Carried out field studies in Kareliy, Caucasus, Transcaucasus, Ukraine, Kuznetsk Alatau, Altay and Far East. Wrote monograph on the Alagez volcano, tracing its development and classifying its mineralogical structure.
Religion
Religiously inspired people justify violence, resist social changes, and attack on science.
Views
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
Membership
Correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1939.
