In 1962, he graduated from Department of Chemistry, Shandong University.
Career
From 1982 to 1993 he visited several United States universities, such as Brown University and Purdue University. Qian"s research mainly focuses on nano materials and new superconducting materials. In 1996 his group developed benzene-thermal synthetic method to nanocrystalline Gallium nitride. In 1998 they reported the preparation of diamond through pyrolysis process of catalytic reduction.
Qian also used crystal chemical method to prepared many kinds of superconducting materials.
