Mario, Queena was born on August 21, 1896 in Akron, Ohio, United States. Daughter of James and Rose (Carewe) Tillotson.

Career

Debut as Antonia in Tales of Hoffman, with San Carlo Opera Company, 1918, continued with that company until 1921. Then with Scotti Opera Company, 1921-1922, Ravinia Opera Company, summer, 1922, with Metropolitan Opera Company, 1922-1939. Sang with the Italian Opera Company, in Paris, 1925, San Francisco Opera Company, 6 seasons between 1923 and 1933, Ravinia Opera Company, 1928-1931.

Vocal teacher Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia, 1931-1934. Private studio, New York City, since 1934. Teacher voice and operatic acting Juilliard Grad School, New York City.
