Served throughout Crimean Campaign as Middle, Mate, and Lieutenant of Agamemnon and Royal Albert, flagships of Sir East. Lyons (Crimean and Turkish medals, 2 clasps). Lieutenant, of His Majesty’s Ship Hero conveying His present Ma esty to the British American colonies and back, 1860. Selected as Commander of Admiralty flagship in command of Channel Fleet and Reserve Squadron, 1869.
Member of Admiralty Confidential Torpedo 190 Committee, 1873-1876.
Comptroller of Portuguese of Alexandria from the institution of that office in 1879 present by invitation of Commander-inChief on board his flagship during bombardment of Alexandria, 1882. Received thanks of British Government for services rendered during the war (medal with clasp and Khedive’s Star).
