KELLY, R. Talbot was born in January 1861. Son of Robt. George Kelly, son of late Commander R. Nugent Kelly, Royal Navy, and Mary, daughter of late Peter Walker, Stranraer.
Studied at Birkenhead School, Birkenhead. Studied art under his father.
Since 1882 resided chiefly abroad in Spain, Morocco, Algiers, Egypt, and Burma, but has principally devoted himself to the study of Egyptian life and customs and Mohammedan art, and with the exception of a summer spent in Iceland, 1891, has devoted himself entirely to Oriental work. Since 1884 has been a frequent exhibitor in Resident Advisor, Rhode Island, Royal Society of British Artists, and leading exhibitions in the provinces, as well as occasional contributions to Continental exhibitions. Among his patrons are His (or Her) Majesty the King and other members of the Royal Family, the Sultan of Turkey, and members of Khedivial family in Egypt.
