Professional career: Since 1967 she is actively involved in legal profession with major focus on Corporate, Criminal, Constitutional and Family law matters in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In between 1973-1974- she Served for the British Civil Service and worked in the Writ Division in Royal Courts of Justice, London, U.K.
Besides she is the Principal of Bhuiyan Academy which is a Recognised Center of the University of London for Cert.He in Common Law and LLB Programmes.
She is also the first female Barrister of Bangladesh and the first female voted Speaker for a one-day parliament session with the consent of the Deputy Speaker while she was a Selected Member of the Parliament during the Awami League Government in 1998.
From March 1985-August till 1988 - she also served as a technocrat Full Minister for the Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
