In Rachel's youth she never intended to be a writer, but she received the encouragement of various teachers, who helped her to develop her talent. Her first novel was a coming-of-age story titled "Wonder." Then came the next one, "Do-Over." In her third novel, "Ever After", Vail employed a new narrative technique, presenting much of her story in the form of diary entries written by fourteen-year-old Molly. Rachel continues writing career till now.
Rachel Vail is married to a man named Mitchell, with whom she has a son Zachary.
