Rachel Vail was born on July 25, 1966, in New York, United States, and grew up in New Rochelle.
In 1988 Rachel received Bachelor of Arts at Georgetown University.
In Rachel's youth she never intended to be a writer, but she received the encouragement of various teachers, who helped her to develop her talent. Her first novel was a coming-of-age story titled "Wonder." Then came the next one, "Do-Over." In her third novel, "Ever After", Vail employed a new narrative technique, presenting much of her story in the form of diary entries written by fourteen-year-old Molly. Rachel continues writing career till now.
Rachel Vail is married to a man named Mitchell, with whom she has a son Zachary.
