Studied at Vocal Department, Odessa Conservatory.
1913 began stage career in Odessa. 1922 actor, Theater of the Revol. From 1924 actor and producer, Moscow Satire Theater, where he specialized in comic character studies.
Also played light comedy in partnership with Ya. M. Rudin; 1942 accompanied concert troupe to the front and was killed in encirclement. Roles: Naryvaytis and Nabaldashnikov in Ardov and Nikulin’s Skloka (The Squabble) and 114-aya stat’ya (Article 114).
