Heraldry expert. Litt.D. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, he graduated from Science Department, Tokyo University. After teaching middle school, he directed from 1911 the compilation of a family history of Marquis Yamanouchi. Became in terested in heraldry and completed his book "Japanese Heraldy" (1925). Was awarded an Imperial Academy Prize for the book.
