Achievements

  • Achievements include identification of a new baculovirus, Spodoptera litura nuclear polyhedrosis virus (SINPV) and construction of vectors using its hyperactive polyhedrin promoter. Isolation and purification of a glucose/cellobiose specific lectin (PRA II) from peanut roots and demonstration of its involvement in host-Rhizobium recognition process for nodulation. Ellucidation of the mechanism of DNA unwinding by DNA helicase III, isolated and purified from E.coli.
