He began his career in Massachusetts, employed until 1931 as head draftsman in the office of a cousin, Charles T. Baker. Following a period of employment in the Boston office of William T. Aldrich, Mr. Kingman moved to Brockton and opened an office for independent practice.
His early work, while associated with Mr. Baker, was mainly residential, including country estates at Oyster Harbor on Cape Cod. In addition he designed the Oyster Harbor Club House, Bass River Savings Bank at South Yarmouth, and other buildings in neighboring towns. Among his later works were a number of the so-called Toy Villages, interesting examples of which were Delft Haven at Provincetown; Toy Village in West Dennis, Kalmar Village at Truro, and The Moorings”, Scarboro, Maine.
