First elected in the general election in 1951, Knox served as a backbencher in the majority Personal Computer government led by Premier John Robarts. Knox did not run for re-election in the general election in 1967, in part because his existing riding was to be eliminated and reconfigured. The new riding, Lambton (electoral district), was successfully held by the Personal Computer candidate, Lorne Henderson.
Knox was born in Asphodel Township, Ontario.
