Background

Modjeski, Ralph was born on January 27, 1861 in Cracow, Poland. Son of Gustav and late Helena (Opid) Modrzejewski.

Education

Came to the United States with mother, 1876. Name changed to Modjeski. For American naturalization, his mother being the celebrated tragedienne, Helen Modjeska.

Graduated from College des Ponts et Chaussees, Paris, at head of class, with honors. Doctor of Engineering, University of Illinois, 1911, Pennsylvania Military College, 1927, Polytechnic Institute of Lwow (Poland), 1930.

Cons. bridge engineer at Chicago, 1892-1940.
