BAGNALL - WILD, Ralph Bagnall was born in 1845. 2nd son of William Kirkby. Assumed the surnames of Bagnall-Wild 74 by Royal Licence, 1868, on succeeding to estates of late Samuel Bagnall-Wild.

Education

Studied at Ruabon School. Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Senior Open Scholarship, 1864.

Master of Arts 1871. A pupil of Arthur Cohen, King’s Counsel, Professional Corporation, and of late Thos.

Lewin; Master of Arts.

Career

Called to Bar, Inner Temple, 1870. Practised Northern Circuit and Liverpool Sessions. In the Lawn Tennis World he was known by introducing the system of “ draw ” in matches known as the “Bagnall-Wild” system.

Is Vice-Chairman of the North ottinghamshire County Education Committee.

Justice of the Peace Company North ottinghamshire. A Rural District Councillor.

Chairman of the Costock Parish Meeting. Vice president of the Rushcliffe Conservative Association.

And on many County Committees. Justice of the Peace, Community College
