He was educated professionally at the University of Illinois, and graduated in 1904 with a B. S. Degree in Architecture.
Early in the century Mr. Abell opened an office in Elgin, and in the course of years designed a number of public buildings in the city, of which notable examples were the Masonic Temple and the Municipal High School.
