Career
Born in Buenos Aires, Ramón de Amaya began his military career as a cadet in Regimiento de Infanteria de Buenos Aires. Amaya participated heroically during the British invasions of the Río de la Plata, where he served with the rank of Captain. Amaya also was involved in conflicts between the Colorado Party and National Party.
He participated in the defense of city in during the Great Siege of Montevideo.
Ramón was the son of Manuel de Amaya and Valentina Zenzano, the daughter of notary Joseph Zenzano and Agripina Mansilla.
