Randall Mark Jeter, American microbiologist. Achievements include discovery of vitamin B12 biosynthesis by the intestinal bacterium Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, natural transformation in the bacterial genus Aeromonas. Nugent scholar, 1970-1972; United States Public Health Service traineeship, 1979-1982. Member American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society Microbiology, Genetics Society of America, Sigma Xi.
