Career
He spent several years as a post doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Catholic University of America in Washington, District of Columbia in the United States. and at the Centre de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris, France. Weiler’s career includes applied research, engineering and manager of information technology of a German multinational chemical company. During his professional activities, mainly as an Information and communications technology -manager at Bayer Antwerpen North.V., he was elected president of the Royal Flemish Engineers Association (K VIV), counting 11.000 academic engineers.
Weiler has lectured at different universities and taught at the University of Leuven about the relationship between technology and society for last-year students in engineering and doctoral students.
Weiler actively participated in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva and Tunis, with a variety of initiatives centered on Information and communications technology and Education.
