He is a son of a policeman (Inspector General) and a housewife, the middle child of three brothers.
He is an alumnus of the Jhenaidah Cadet College and a member of the Jhenaidah Ex-Cadets Association. As a student, he was into athletics and football. This is where he started to paint and sharpened his music skills, although he had been exposed to music since early childhood.
He later went on to Independent University, Bangladesh and earned an undergraduate degree in computer science.
As a student, he performed a few times for the university crowd, but did not yet consider himself a professional. He later focused his creativity on the corporate world, setting up a creative solutions provider in 2005.
He is now Chief Executive Officer of the company, which is called Creato.
Rashid is famous for his Bengali light and easy songs, traditional yet contemporary, using a vast range of different instruments. Stepping out of the common themes and trends in Bengali music, Rashid’s lyrics and tunes make his listeners re-examine their time, feelings and dreams. However, his first public creative outlet was painting, starting when he was in class 8.
He later channeled his creativity to the corporate world, setting up a creative solutions provider in 2005, named Creato.
Rashid Khan is an extraordinarily talented artist of contemporary times. Despite his endless love and passion for the three major forms of creative art, he has long camouflaged himself under the guise of a successful entrepreneur.
However, he never stopped exploring his gift in painting, poetry and music and has been highly commended by the music and art enthusiasts. His long-standing motto for self-expression was to “amplify thoughts with creativity”.
Incidentally, a slightly modified version of this phrase served as his company’s slogan.
Both Creato"s vision and mission statements emphasized on creative solutions. His quest for artistic perfection can be evidenced in the fact that he initiated ‘Project Unlearn’ in 2014, which is aimed to be a journey by music and showcases live music and painting by Rashid Khan. He collaborated with a number of talented musicians from the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Nepal and India such as Arko Mukhaerjee, Partha Barua and HAR Jewel.
Project Unlearn will be back for a second season in 2016.
