Kennedy, Raymond Arthur was born on March 3, 1934 in North Wilbraham, Massachusetts, United States. Son of James Patrick and Orise Marie (Belanger) Kennedy.


After serving in the United States Army, Kennedy returned home and, under the G.I. Bill, studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating in 1960 with a degree in English.
