She appeared in such West End musical productions as Starlight Express, Grease, and Fame before landing the part of Nina Farr, a paramedic, in Casualty in 2004. Gibbs played paramedic Nina Farr for more than 100 episodes of the British Broadcasting Corporation medical drama between 2004 and 2006. She left Casualty to start a family and was just weeks away from giving birth when she first noticed a lump in her breast.
After chemotherapy and radiotherapy and a double mastectomy, she was given the all-clear after five years in 2013.
A few months later, she had a seizure while on holiday in Devon. Gibbs was taken to hospital and told the cancer had spread to her brain and lungs.
She died at a hospice in Pembury, Kent.
