Graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Vilnius, then from the Vilnius Conservatory as an actor.
Worked at the Vilnius Drama Theatre. First film: The Chronicle of One Day, 1963. One of the leading actors in Lithuanian cinema.
Worked with the outstanding director Grigorii Kozintsev on King Lear, made by Lenfilm in 1971. Other films: No One Wanted to Die. 1965; Feelings, 1970.
