He served as a Conservative Councillor on Humberside County Council from 1985-1993. He is the owner of Sutton Park, Yorkshire and a director of Normanby Estate Company Limited.
In 2011 Sir Reginald admitted that he earned as much as £350,000 a year from eight wind turbines located on his estate at Bagmoor near Normanby Hall in Lincolnshire.
