Ressai Oku was born in 1780.

Education

He studied meqicine under Toyo Yamawaki and obstetrics under Shen Kagawa, in Kyoto.

Career

When he succeeded in surgical operation on the Consort of Emperor Ninko after her childbirth he was promoted to Hogen (1820). Corrected and supplemented the obstetrical books of the school and made anatomical researches connected with midwifery.
