Studied at Diocesan School of Armagh and Connor. Trinity College Dublin (Scholar). Master of Arts; Doctor of Divinity.
Curate of Christ Church, Kingstown, 1885-1893. Assistant to Archbishop King’s Lecturer in Divinity, University of Dublin, 1890-1893. Senior Chaplain of St. Mary’s Cathedral,Edinburgh,1893-1898.
Examining Chaplain to Bishop of Edinburgh 1896-1810. Precentor of Trinity College, Dublin, 1900-1905. Professor of Ecclesiastical History University of Dublin since 1898.
Precentor of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, since 1902. Chaplain to Lord Lieutenant of Ireland since 1906. Editor of Irish Church Quarterly since 1907.
