Career
Joswig moved to East Berlin in the early 80s where he began working as a roadie. He soon met Doctor Totenhöfer with whom he started playing music In Spring 1987 they gathered a number of musicians around them and formed Herbst in Peking.
From the very beginning they experienced problems with the ministry of culture which feared diplomatic complications with China because of the band"s name and controversial political standpoint.
Joswig often began concerts with the sentence Today is the day the system collapses - let"s celebrate that day. In July 1989 the band lost its playing licence due to Joswig"s appeal for a minute of silence for the victims of the Tiananmen Square massacre.
In early 1990 Joswig founded the first independent record label of the German Democratic Republic: Peking Records. From 1991 to 1998 he presented the radio show Grenzpunkt Null which soon enjoyed cult status.
Today Joswig lives in East Berlin and works as a freelancer, musician, producer and DJ.
