He was adopted when he was 6 weeks old and was brought to Cairns, Queensland where he spent all of his childhood. He was then enrolled in Tertiary Education at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Growing up listening to Jazz in high school, Rhys produced his sound from listening to artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Harry Connick Junior. and Michael Bublé.
After high school he started listening to Contemporary Music and drew influence from such artists as John Legend, Chris Martin, Guy Sebastian and John Mayer.
Rhys has been singing since the age of five and has been Songwriting since he was 15. "I always wanted to be in front of people.
I discovered music at 15 and never really looked back". After Rhys was eliminated on Australia"s Got Talent, he has been working as an Entertainment Presenter on Seven News and is part of the breakfast team at Zinc 102.7 in Cairns.
