Ricardo Melantzon Aguilar finished University of Texas at El Paso with Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971 and Master of Arts in 1972. In 1976 he graduated from University of New Mexico with Doctor of Philosophy.
Mr. Aguilar worked as an instructor in Spanish at University of Texas at El Paso from 1974 to 1975 and lecturer in Chicano studies at University of Washington, Seattle during 1975-1977. From 1977 till 1980 he was a director of Chicano studies and assistant to the vice-president for academic affairs, University of Texas at El Paso, assistant professor, 1977-1983, associate professor, 1983-1990, professor of Spanish and creative writing since 1990.
Aguilar Ricardo Melantzon was a professor of New Mexico State University, Las Cruces since 1990. Between 1966 and 1972 he was at military service: United States Naval Reserve, signalman second class.
