Background
Farington was the son of Sir John Farington by Ann May, daughter of John May, of Rawmere, Sussex.

In December 1697 he was created a baronet, of Chichester in the County of Sussex. Farington married Elizabeth Peachey, daughter of John Peachey, of Ertham. They had three sons who all died in their father"s lifetime.
Farington died in August 1719 when the baronetcy became extinct.

He sat as Member of Parliament for Chichester between 1681 and 1685, 1698 and 1701, 1708 and 1713 and 1715 and 1719 and was appointed High Sheriff of Sussex for 1696-1697.
