Career
He was the longest serving incumbent mayor of a "big city" in Michigan until his death in 2014. Notte received two associate degrees from Macomb Community College in applied science and labor studies. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 45 years until retiring in 2004 and was involved in the labor union movement.
Prior to being elected mayor, Notte served on the Sterling Heights City Council.
Notte announced his candidacy for mayor of Sterling Heights in 1992. On October 28, 2014, Notte died of pancreatic cancer.
He was 76 years old.
