Career
He was named basketball Most Valuable Player three years at his high school in Hollister, California, and started his schooling at Brigham Young University (Brigham Young University) on an athletic scholarship. After returning from his mission, Maynes resumed school at Brigham Young University. Maynes graduated from Brigham Young University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Surgery in business management and a double minor in economics and accounting. He then entered the American Graduate School of International Management (today known as the Thunderbird School of Global Management), earning an Master of Surgery in international management in 1976.
He would go on to become president of Raymond Production Systems, Incorporated., and later Chief Executive Officer of Fountain Fresh International, a beverage company with markets in Asia and Europe.
He also became co-owner of CS Wood, Incorporated., a Salt Lake City firm specializing in architectural building supplies. He was called as a general authority in 1997 and joined the Second Quorum of the Seventy.
On March 31, 2001, he was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy. On January 20, 2012, he was called to the Presidency of the Seventy, succeeding Steven East. Snow.
