From 1896 to 1899 Scheibe studied painting at the Art Academy in Dresdenб, Sachsen, Germany, From 1899 to 1900 he continued to study painting in Munich in private schools and then went for two years to Italy to deepen his artistic education.
After completing his military service, Richard moved to Berlin, taught at many German institutes: the Stedele Art Institute, the Higher School of Fine Arts in Berlin. At the beginning of the 20th century, Shaibe participated in the exhibition of the Berlin Szecession art association. In 1914 Richard became a member of the Free Secession. In 1917 in the Dresden gallery Richter the exhibition of his works took place. From 1925 to 1933 Richard worked as a professor in the Steadylev Institute of Arts in Frankfurt Am Main, Bayern, Germany. In 1934 he became a Professor in the High School of Fine Arts in Berlin, Germany. He held this position until 1945.
