Chairman of Mining Commission. Member of House of Assembly, Cape Colony, for the division of Tembuland. Attorney-General of the Schreiner Ministry, 1898-1900.
Legal adviser to the Transvaal Administration and to Lord Kitchener, 1901 and 1902. Attorney. General of the Transvaal. 1902-1907; Acting Lieutenant Governor of the Transvaal, 1905-1900.
