Career
He played the role of Doctor Chuck Tyler on All My Children from 1975 to 1984, from 1989 to 1992, and again in 1995 and 2005. And as Doctor Editor Bauer on Guiding Light from 1984 to 1986. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Van Vleet had numerous guest starring roles on some of the most popular prime time series at the time, such as Mannix, Cannon, Marcus Welby, Doctor of Medicine, lieutenant Takes a Thief, McCloud, Adam-12, Dragnet, The Virginian, and Ironside.
He also appeared in the movies Airport (though uncredited), Angel in My Pocket and Ben, released early in his career.
More recently, he has spent more time behind the camera, as producer of Bikini Planet (2002), and writer/director of Retribution (1998). Richard Van Vleet has directed and written such movies as Bikini Planet, Retribution, and Trailer Trash.
In 2008, he proposed and directed Ryan and Sean"s Not So Excellent Adventure for YouTube personality Nigahiga.
