Richard attended Napa College on a degree of Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts in 1965. A year after he became a student of Stanford University. There he earned a Bachelor in Communications degree in 1967.
In 1967 Richard was educated in University Arizona on a Master of Arts in History degree after which he went to Vanderbilt University. There he first earned Master of Divinity degree in 1970 and further in 1971 Doctor of Divinity.
Further graduate study Richard received at Temple University from 1972-1975. Later on, in 1988 he became A Juris Doctor at the University of Memphis. Last place of education for Richard was Sonoma State University in 1988. There he earned a teaching credential.
Richard Buch started his career in Nashville Human Rights Forum on the position of staff member from 1974 till 1975. After a while, Richard went to Napa Valley College on the position of adjunct instructor in humanities and history in 1985. From there he moved later to Sonoma State University to become an instructor in philosophy from 1990-1991. That year he became adjunct instructor at Diablo Valley College and worked there till 1994.
Richard Bunch once told how nature particularly inspires his writing: how it releases creative energy, especially if it involves bodies of water such as lakes, streams, rivers, and the sea. He also mentioned that over the years influences have come and gone, but Wordsworth, Wallace Stevens, Neruda, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Frost, and Emily Dickinson have left their marks.
