Tunstall, Richard Baylor was born on July 1, 1848 in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Son of Robert Baylor and Elizabeth Walke (Williamson) Tunstall.

Brother of Robert Williamson T. Norfolk Academy, William R. Galt’s School, Virginia Military Institute (1864-1865). Master of Arts, University of Virginia, 1868.

Taught Norwood School, Nelson Company, Virginia, 1 year. B.L., University of Virginia, 1870.

Career

In May 1864, with cadets of Virginia Military Institute, was in battle of New Market, under General Breckenridge, C.S.A. Practiced law, Norfolk, Virginia, 1870-1871, New York, 1871-1883. Again in Norfolk, 1883-1907 (retired). Director Norfolk Railway & Light Company Delaware Universal Congress Lawyers and Jurists, St. Louis, 1904.

Democrat; elector on Palmer and Buckner ticket, 1896. Episcopalian; chancellor Diocese of Southern Virginia, 1912-1913. Address: Norfolk, Va.
