Ordained Universalist ministry, 1885. Pastor 34 years, successively at Little Falls, New York, Denver, Colorado, and Malden, Massachusetts, building 3 chs. President St. Lawrence University, 1919-1935, president emeritus since 1935.

Carried out campaign successfully for 11,000,000 endowment, 1922-1925.
