Instructor Minneapolis Art School, 1921-1922, Art Students League, 1923-1935. Director Corcoran School Art, Washington, 1935-1963, principal emeritus, 1963-1978. Artist in residence U. Georgia, 1968.

Professor fine arts Goucher College, Baltimore, 1937-1960.

Professor George Washington University. Ford Foundation grantee, artist in residence Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, 1965, Hamilton Easter Field, Ogunquit, Maine, 1965.

Representative permanent collection National Collection Fine Arts, also large museums and galleries of the United States. One-man shows Virginia Museum Fine Arts, Corcoran Gallery of Art, 1944, Goucher College, 1959, U. Georgia, 1968, Patrick Henry Library, Vienna, Virginia, 1971.

Commissioned with wife to execute mural for Hawaii Memorial, Honolulu, 1960, portrait United States Treasury Department, 1962.
