Named Man of Year in Texas Agriculture, Texas County Agriculture Agents Association, 1990; named an Outstanding Tex Leader, John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute, 1996; named one of Most Effective Legislators, Dallas Morning News, 1989; recipient Distinguished Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouts America, 1992, Gerald W Thomas Agriculturist award.


Perry, Rick was born on March 4, 1950 in Paint Creek, Texas, United States. Son of Joseph Ray and Amelia June (Holt) Perry.


Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University, 1972.


Farmer/rancher; member District 64 Texas House of Representatives, 1985-1990. Texas agriculture commissioner, 1991-1998. Lieutenant governor State of Texas, Austin, 1999-2000, governor, since 2000.

Chairman Republican Governors Association, 2007—2008, finance chairman, since 2008. Captain United States Air Force, 1972-1977.
