He normally plays as a striker and used to be Indonesian football star in 1980s. His nickname is "Indonesian Paul Breitner". He marked his name is 1986 Asian Games when led Indonesian team
In 1988 Matsushita (nowadays its became Gamba Osaka) bought him but he failed to make an impact there because climate condition.
He only played 6 games and scored a goal. Nowadays he opened a football school called Sekolah Sepak Bola (SSB) Ricky Yacobi in Jakarta.
He also act as manager in one of first Indonesian division club, Jakarta Matador Football Club.
