Sullivan, Mountjoy, Stainback & Miller, P.S.C., was founded in 1948 as a result of the merger of the firm of Byron and Sandidge, a partnership composed of Carroll East. Byron and Ridley M. Sandidge, Senior, and the firm of Fowler and Holbrook, comprised of O. L. Fowler and Morton J. Holbrook. Byron, Sandidge, and Holbrook, as the firm was then called, had a diverse civil practice.
The firm represented numerous utilities and oil and gas production businesses, and was also involved in insurance defense, estate planning and administration, real estate and bank legal work.
