The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named both brothers a suspect in the mega scandal and slapped a travel ban on both Andi Mallarangeng and Choel, a political consultant to Fox Indonesia. Andi Mallarangeng was forced to resigned from his positions as Indonesia"s Youth and Sports Minister and as the Secretary of the Democratic Party of Indonesia’s Board of Patrons.
Andi Mallarangeng is the first minister to resign on graft allegations since the country"s powerful Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) began operating in 2003 with a mandate to crack down on rampant graft.
