Born into an Anglo-Canadian Jewish family in London, he was educated at Street Paul"s School (London) and the University of Toronto.

He is co-editor of the Saint Austin Review, a Catholic review of culture, and Editor of Saint Austin Press. He has been Senior Master and teacher of English and History at Chavagnes International College, France, since its inception in 2002. He was recently awarded a Wilbur Research Fellowship at the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal for his work towards a new study of the English poet Lionel Johnson.
