Career
He was Vice President, Policy and Research at Canada 2020, a Canadian Progressive think-tank located in Ottawa from January 2015 to August 2015. Asselin was a senior advisor to the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau from October 2012, when Trudeau announced his decision to seek the Liberal Party leadership, until the last federal election on October 19, 2015. During the last federal election campaign, he served as senior advisor to Mr.
Trudeau.
Asselin was the Associate Director of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa from 2007 to 2015. In 2014, he was appointed Visiting Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, District of Columbia Asselin served as a speechwriter and advisor to Prime Minister Paul Martin from 2004 to 2006. From 2001 to 2004, Asselin was a policy advisor to Intergovernmental Affairs Ministers Stéphane Dion and Pierre Pettigrew.
