Robert Bingham's Lightning on the Sun is a beautifully plotted and written novel with the fast-paced suspense of a thriller and the moral resonance and exotic setting of one of Graham Greene's classic works.
Robert Bingham studied at Groton School. Later he attended Brown University from 1984 to 1988. In 1990 Bingham entered Columbia University and received a Master of Fine Arts in 1994.
When Robert Bingham studied at Columbia University he met Daniel Pinchbeck and Thomas Beller, another aspiring author, and together the young men started Open City. It was published by a nonprofit organization, Open City, Inc. Open City Magazine was produced three times per year. Besides, after graduating from Columbia University Robert Bingham started to publish his fiction and non-fiction in The New Yorker.
Bingham worked for two years as a reporter for the Cambodia Daily. It was probably in Cambodia that Bingham developed his taste for heroin. Bingham died of a heroin overdose at age 33 on November 28, 1999, six months after marrying Vanessa Scharven Chase.
Robert Bingham married Vanessa Chase in 1999. They had no children.
