His third album, The Pink Tornado, was released in 1988 by Atlanta International Records, and this was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. He released fourteen albums over the course of his career with the following labels: Checker Records, Atlanta International, Malaco Records, Chess Records, Gospel Jubilee, Grammercy Records, Bounce Records, and New Direction Music.
Blair was born on August 6, 1930, as Robert Earl Blair.
