The firm"s roots can be traced to Lyman Critchfield, who served as Ohio"s Attorney General during the Civil War, and who, after the Civil War, carried on a legal practice in Wooster.
He was followed in the practice by his son and grandsons, with the current firm being established in 1946. The firm enjoys a wide reputation for its sophisticated practice, which is largely, but far from exclusively, business oriented.
The principal areas of practice include general corporate, business taxation, labor, employment regulation, oil and gas, real estate, banking, creditor"s rights, municipal and zoning, administrative law, insurance, pension and profit sharing, securities and litigation in all state and federal courts. Services performed for individuals are also a substantial portion of the firm"s practice, and include the areas of estate planning and administration, and consumer and personal injury litigation.
