Career
Robert Davidson practiced law as a partner in the Tulsa firm Robinson, Lewis, Orbison, Smith & Coyle. His practice is described as focusing on real estate, real estate litigation, and title insurance law.
Real estate litigation resolves disputes over property rights, such as ownership, boundaries, and the performance of property contracts. Title insurance, a field closely related to this work, protects buyers and lenders against financial losses arising from defects in the recorded ownership of property. Lawyers who combine these areas must follow the property and recording rules of the jurisdiction in which they practice, which for Davidson was Oklahoma.
The Robinson, Lewis, Orbison, Smith & Coyle firm merged in 1994 with Riggs, Abney, Neal & Turpen, creating the firm known as Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis. The Riggs Abney firm had been founded in 1972 by four graduates of the University of Tulsa College of Law and opened its Tulsa offices in 1974. It later became one of Oklahoma's largest law firms, with additional offices in Oklahoma City and Colorado, and it is now known simply as Riggs Abney.
