A product of Nelson High School in Burlington, Ontario, he graduated from McGill University in 2006 with an arts degree, majoring in political science and industrial relations.

He participated in pre-season training camps with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League in 2007 and 2008. He led the McGill Redmen in scoring during each of his last three seasons, while averaging 34.0 yards per punt and connecting on 65.6% of his field goal attempts (21 of 32). He registered 46 points over eight games in 2004, 25 points over five games in 2005 and 45 points in seven games during his senior year.
His best game as a place-kicker for the Redmen was on October 23, 2004, when he kicked five field goals in a 29-13 victory at Mount Allison.
In 2007, Eeuwes received an invitation from the Toronto Argonauts" to observe their pre-season training camp. lieutenant was there where he learned about life as a professional football kicker from Noel Prefontaine, who also imparted some of his kicking advice.
Eeuwes later played for the London Silverbacks of the North American Football League where his play earned him the Silverbacks" Special Teams Most Valuable Player award in the Silverbacks" championship year. In 2008, he signed as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts and attended training camp.
Eeuwes was ultimately a training camp cut which was foreseeable with Mike Vanderjagt"s return to the club
On July 23, 2008, Eeuwes committed to the University of Windsor, joining the Windsor Lancers as their kicker. 2008

Named McGill’s Special Teams Player of the Year… Played 6 games finishing 3rd in the QUFL in punting with 51 punts for 1,728 yards…Also finished 4th in the QUFL with 20 kickoffs for 938 yards…Made 4 of 5 field goals.

Played 8 games with McGill, recording 81 punts for 2,648 yards…Had 34 kickoffs for 1,597 yards…Went 8 for 16 in field goal attempts…Also added 2.5 defensive tackles, 1 carry for 8 yards and 1 reception for 17 yards
