Mr. Elliott arrived in America in 1819, and after living for a few years in Quebec, Canada, where he found employment as draftsman with an architectural firm, moved to Rochester, N.Y. In the latter city he was known Ets a builder-architect until 1834, when he established an architectural practice in Detroit.
One of his most important works is the beautiful First Presbyterian Church in Detroit, which was later remodeled into a Roman Catholic Church.
